Breakfast
Chinese Steamed Egg
The viral comfort food in a bowl — silky, custard-like steamed eggs somewhere between jelly and flan, topped with sesame oil, soy sauce, and scallions. Just 6 ingredients and 15 minutes for the coziest breakfast.
Ingredients
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 scallions, chopped
Instructions
- Whisk eggs with warm water and salt until well combined. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a heatproof bowl to remove air bubbles for a smooth, silky texture.
- Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap. Place in a steamer over boiling water and steam on medium heat for 10-12 minutes until the custard is just set and jiggly in the center.
- Remove from steamer, drizzle with sesame oil and soy sauce, and top with chopped scallions. Serve warm.
