Remember the Maine

A spirit-forward rye cocktail with a hint of cherry and anise. Rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, Cherry Heering, and a whisper of absinthe come together in this pre-Prohibition classic from Havana.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz rye whiskey
  • 3/4 oz sweet vermouth
  • 1/4 oz Cherry Heering
  • 2 dashes absinthe
  • 1 brandied cherry for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1. Add rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, Cherry Heering, and absinthe to an ice-filled mixing glass.
  2. 2. Stir for 20-30 seconds until well-chilled.
  3. 3. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  4. 4. Garnish with a brandied cherry and serve.
