Ward Eight

A classic Boston cocktail from 1898 — rye whiskey, lemon, orange, and grenadine. Created to celebrate a politician's election win at the Lock-Ober Cafe. Sweet, tart, and historic.

Ingredients

2 oz rye whiskey
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz fresh orange juice
1/2 oz grenadine
Orange slice for garnish

Instructions

1. Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice.
2. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
3. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
4. Garnish with an orange slice.
