Instant Pot Mac and Cheese

Creamy, cheesy mac and cheese in under 15 minutes. No draining required — it cooks right in the sauce.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 lb elbow macaroni
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp mustard powder
  • Black pepper

Instructions

  1. Add water and salt to the Instant Pot. Add macaroni and stir.
  2. Secure lid, set valve to Sealing, and pressure cook on High for 4 minutes.
  3. Quick release immediately. Do not drain.
  4. Set to Saute (low if possible). Add butter and stir until melted.
  5. Add milk, heavy cream, both cheeses, garlic powder, mustard powder, and pepper.
  6. Stir continuously until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth and creamy. Serve immediately.
